“Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.” Proverbs 13:20
I Just thought I would remind how important it is that you choose the right kind of people to hang out with. Be sure to choose wise friends because by walking with them you will grow wise. And the oposite is true as well, you walk with foolish friends and you will grow foolish. The kind of relationships you have will determine how well you grow intellectualy, emotionally, volitionally and last but not least, spiritually. Perhaps you will have to decide right now how determined you are to become successful this year and that determination must drive you to choose your relationships well. It’s a tough decision but it’s a decision that your future depends on. What will it be? Do you want to hang out with the wise people or do you pefer to still hang out with those who are not taking you anywhere; the foolish people? Choose now, time is running out?
“Above all else, guard your heart,
for everything you do flows from it.” Proverbs 4:23 NIV
The Proverbs encourage us to guard our hearts. As you embark on a New Year you may have set out on this journey with new resolutions, new commitments, new passions, new resolve, or new strategies. Whatevever new way you plan to live out your life this New Year, you will not succeed unless you guard your heart.
Guarding your heart means that you must take time to understand your heart. The heart is deceitful above all things and the heart can so easily cause you to feel that it’s desires are legitimate. Because the heart is deceptive, you MUST take time to undertand it, challenge it, and fight against its ungoldy desires. Also, by guarding your heart you will become a good and faithful steward of everything else in your life.
So I leave you with this first tip for the New Year, Guard Your Heart!
