Last week I received an email from someone who represents a field of thinkers and writers. As I read through his mail, I noticed  the typographical litter that was scattered throughout his writing. He closed by apologising for it because he had such a busy day that he had “no time” to proofread.
Yesterday I wrote an email, a lengthy one. I clicked “SEND”. Job done! About an hour later I received  positive feedback. I decided to re-read my email. Guess what I discovered. Yes. You’re right! I discovered two typographical errors and one miss-spelled word. My legs are not long enough to kick myself.
Before i clicked “SEND” I thought it was good enough. It wasn’t!
Proofreading is one of the most important activities you’ll be engaged in, in your life.
James says this, ”  My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry…” James 1:19
It goes beyond this. Proofread every thought before it becomes a word. If you dont someone may get hurt. Proofread every decision before it becomes a action. If you don’t the repurcussions could be horrible. Proofread every relationship before you enter into it. If you don’t, you’ll end up in divorce, your spouse may drive you away from Jesus, or you might be subjected to a life of emotional, physical and economic abuse.
Be slow in anything you do. Proofread. Once you click “SEND”, it becomes a part of reality and it’s irretrievable.
Make a habit of proofreading….everything.
